I worked with several big travel and hospitality magazines in India – Express Travel and Tourism (now Express Travel World), Express Hotelier and Caterer (now Express Hospitality) fe Business Traveller, Travel Biz Monitor, Hospitality Biz and Travel Trends Today. I have experience in writing features, reports and analytical stories on travel, tourism and hospitality industries. I have interviewed businessmen and top professionals in the tourism industry. I have written feature articles on destinations such as India, Ireland, Thailand and Egypt. I worked for a travel startup called Mygola Technologies, where I helped travelers create their travel plans. Furthermore, I managed the recruitment and training of freelance content writers for the company.

Content Associate; Recruitment Consultant, Mygola Technologies – Bangalore, India
I joined this start up in September 2010 as a Content Associate. My key responsibility was to do research and create detailed travel plans for the customers. I planned weekend trips, long and short vacations and road trips covering destinations such as India, Europe, France, Australia and others. I did that for about six months. Post that I took on the role of recruitment consultant as the company needed someone to take up the role. I managed the recruitment and training of the company’s freelance guide community and part of the in-house content team. I was responsible for posting ads, managing online tests, finding prospective candidates and conducting interviews, on boarding, payments, community building and data analysis.
Freelance Content Writer, Cross Section Publications; Holiday IQ
I took a break post my delivery, during which time I started doing freelance content writing assignments. I wrote and edited content for Holiday IQ, an online travel portal. I wrote destination reviews on several places in and around Karnataka. For example: Coorg, Mysore, Hampi. I wrote content for Cross Section Publications, a publishing house headquartered in New Delhi. I wrote articles for their annual travel directory, which is a comprehensive guide on 26 cities across India.
Assistant Editor, Cross Section Publications – Bangalore, India
I was effectively contributing to three key publications - Travel Trends Today (T3), Go Now and FHRAI Magazine. I wrote analytical articles on hospitality, travel and tourism sectors for T3, hotel reviews and articles on travel trends for Go Now. I wrote news stories for FHRAI Magazine, which is the magazine of the Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India. I created a complete supplement on the Indian state of Karnataka.

I headed the editorial in South India for two of their key publications – TravelBiz Monitor and Hospitality Biz, B2B publications dedicated to the tourism and hospitality industries respectively. I wrote articles on aviation, tourism, hospitality, food and beverage, new hotel projects, infrastructure, airports, trends in these sectors and travelogues. I did interviews with top people in the tourism and hospitality sectors on various key subjects.

My key responsibility was to edit stories that reporters send to the bureau and design the sections that were assigned to me. I learnt most of my language and editing skills during this time.
