About Me

I am a journalist and travel writer born in Mumbai and raised in Chennai. Since the family moved to Chennai after my birth, I was brought up in Chennai. I belong to a simple middle class family consisting of my mum, dad and two older sisters. My family played a very important role in shaping the person I am today.
I always wanted to stand out from the crowd and do something of my own accord. So, I chose to be a journalist. After completing my masters in communication, I got an opportunity to work as a correspondent of the Business Publications Division of Indian Express Newspapers. I was covering the travel and hospitality sectors. It was truly a learning experience. After the first job, I decided that this is what I wanted to do. I completed my post graduation in Journalism which gave me further impetus to be a professional journalist.
I got married to a kind and affectionate man and moved to Bangalore where I continued working as a journalist / travel writer. I worked with companies such as The Hindu, Saffron Media Pvt Ltd, Cross Section Publications and Mygola Technologies. I had a wonderful experience with each of these companies and grew from being a Correspondent to Assistant Editor. I learnt a lot about writing, editing, media, communication and people management. I also got to work as a content writer and recruitment consultant which although a bit different from traditional journalism roles are equally challenging and fun.
I recently moved to Belfast in United Kingdom with my husband and five-year-old son. I am currently a freelance writer working on interesting content projects. My ultimate goal is to start my own content services company.
Personally, I am very adventurous and love to explore new places and try out new things. I am a movie buff and an outright family person. Travel is the one thing that keeps me going. Cooking, music and spending time with my son work as perfect antidotes.
